PRODUCT : ObjectVision NUMBER : 634
VERSION : 1.0
OS : WIN
DATE : September 11, 1991 PAGE : 1/1
TITLE : Creating full page forms
Description: An ObjectVision form that is as large as the display
screen, is less than the full size of an 8 1/2"x11" sheet of
paper.
You can make a form that is larger than the window by positioning
a form object beyond the default form boundaries.
Instructions: The aim is to create a scroll bar on either the
side of the form, the bottom of the form, or both. These scroll
bars will indicate that the form is larger than the ObjectVision
window. These bars will allow the user to increase the size of
the form in the vertical direction if the scroll bar is on the
right side, and the horizontal direction if the scroll bar is on
the right side. The trick is to create this scroll bar. I will
describe how to do this in the vertical direction, doing it
horizontally requires following the same instructions, only
switching the orientation. Once you have your form larger than
the display, it is only a matter of trial and error until you can
match the form size to that of the page size you have selected in
Windows Printer setup box.
First create a form and place a field in the middle of it. Using
the mouse, place the form in the upper left hand corner of the
ObjectVision window. Now grab the bottom border of the form with
the mouse and pull the form edge as close as possible to the
bottom border of the ObjectVision window.
Now select the top edge of the object you created and move it
down to the bottom of the screen, making the object partially
obscured by the lower ObjectVision window border. Release the
object. At this point a scroll bar should appear on the right
side of the window. If it does not, continue pushing the object
below the window border, releasing it, until this scroll bar
appears.
At this point, the form can be enlarged as much as possible with
the scroll bar. Keep in mind that the form will only print on
the size paper you have specified the Windows Printer setup.
Any part of the form that extends beyond the size of your paper
will be clipped off. The exact size of the printed output must
be determined by trial and error.
